In a pre-pandemic world, regional- or affinity-based New Bruin Send-offs were the first official UCLA events many students and parents attended. COVID could only alter, not stop, these moments of welcome. The total number of events increased 31%, and attendance climbed from 2295 in person in 2019 to 2707 online in 2020. Staying Current With Elected Officials
UCLA Faculty Women’s Club
The Faculty Women’s Club was established in 1918 to advocate for the rights of female faculty. The FWC membership consists of female and male faculty, staff and spouses. The network provides social and educational opportunities for its members and funds scholarships for UCLA students. Firm in believing that we should never stop learning, the club often welcomes high-profile speakers to their meetings, such as California Secretary of State Shirley Weber and California State Senator Ben Allen.

The Daily Bruin Alumni Network
The Daily Bruin is as much of a part of Bruin life as the Diddy Reese cookie for UCLA students. The loyalty of former staffers making a journalistic name for themselves is renowned and manifests itself in many ways, including funding scholarships for student staffers. In addition, Daily Bruin alumni meet online with current newspaper staff to mentor, trade ideas and ready themselves for the next big story.
